Weimar's history is inextricably linked to the pivotal global shift of the 16th century. Follow in the footsteps of the Reformation here and discover the key roles played by the Duke of Saxony—John Frederick the Magnanimous—and his protégé Martin Luther, who frequently stayed in Weimar.

Yet the message of the Protestant movement was carried from Weimar to the world not only through the Reformer's words but also through the paintings and altarpieces of his close friend Lucas Cranach the Elder, and the music of the Baroque genius Bach. Let us explore the words, images, and sounds of this fascinating era together.
